Magnetic fast steering mirrors provide large motion along 2 rotation axes. They are used for pointing, scanning, or stabilization in various applications such as optical communication feeder links onboard satellites or in ground stations, image deblurring by back scanning or space LIDARs. Because they are based on magnetic actuators, they provide a larger angular stroke than piezo fast steering mirrors.
Cedrat Technologies’ magnetic FSMs are based on the MICA proprietary technologies, which gives them a higher power / size ratio compared to voice coil FSMs.
